CUE Camden is an education and workforce development startup dedicated to helping future teachers.

What is CUE Camden?

comeUNITY Experiences (CUE) Camden is an education and workforce development startup. It was founded the founder saw after seeing the community come together and support each other following Hurricane Harvey. CUE was created with communities in mind, and supporting each other through tough times. With the Camden’s renaissance underway, CUE is there to support people of color interested in teaching to the next generation. The startup works as a community, giving them a space to focus on their studies. With this safe space, they’re able to become better educators.

Problem

Founder Melissa Thompson is currently an elementary school teacher. She has experience in the primary/secondary education industry. When she first began Cue Camden, she was doing all the design work herself. She had some design skills, but it started to take up too much of her time. She knew what she wanted for her marketing materials and wanted sound graphics to promote it. However, she would much prefer to spend her time creating educational and curriculum material for her clients then creating graphic designs.

Solution

Melissa signed up for Penji because she was looking for an affordable startup to make the designs for her. With Cue Camden as a startup, Melissa understood that there were unexpected costs associated with running one. As a result, she knew Penji’s flat rate was a consistent cost she could afford. She wanted sound graphics to bring in the audience she was looking for. With Penji, she could communicate the designs she wanted on her timeline, within her budget.

Results

Melissa can now focus on expanding CUE instead of creating her own graphic designs. She wants to continue helping potential educators in Camden.
